My inspiration to become a Licensed Professional Counselor is based on my experiences in the area of mental health. My desire is to help others overcome debilitating fears, release unnecessary burdens, think clearly, experience emotions, and make wise choices. I utilize a comprehensive approach in facilitating the healing process. Our body, mind, and spirit work in tandem; therefore, each component plays a role in our mental wellness.
Meet Blue, our emotional support bunny!
I offer a warm and welcoming environment in which to counsel, utilizing the scientifically supported methods of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Insight Oriented Therapy (IOT), the Interpersonal Process Approach (IPA), and Medical Hypnoanalysis (MH) from a Biblically based perspective. CBT identifies distorted thinking patterns, and provides tools to refute them; IOT uncovers unresolved issues from the past that are influencing the present; IPA identifies maladaptive relational styles, and counters them with a corrective emotional response given by the counselor; and MA is a therapeutic tool used to induce a dreamlike state, where the subconscious is more easily accessed releasing emotional states that need processing. Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) is a specific type of CBT used for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. ERP involves facing the fear, while refraining from ritualizing.
Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
